Social Development department reiterates commitment to increasing SASSA grants

Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her help and motivation to strengthening South African Social Security Company (SASSA) services for the duration of an engagement along with the company's senior professionals at a strategic planning session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled from the 2024 matric examinations.
From the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing eighty one% of your registered pupils while in the schooling sector.
These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means that the investment national government is creating during the lives of poor and susceptible kids is yielding a beneficial effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe said.
